Tallinn's tourism web has a new face
Tallinn's official tourism website has been redesigned and has its functionality updated to suit today's web user.
Some new information, a fresh look and some added functionality appeared on the Tallinn's tourism web in July. With key links on the front page and all menus at the bottom of the page, the reader should find the pages easier to read and the information easy to access. Tallinn's news feed is also on the front page.
Searching for specific events, sights, restaurants or hotels is more precise. Filtering is now possible based on a number of descriptive parameters.
My Tallinn is especially cutting edge. This feature will enable the user to collect specific information about events, information, sights and news. With My Tallinn the user can easily compile information to make a personal itinerary print it off and to take it along. Online storage means that the reader can pick up a copy of their itinerary anywhere they have access to a computer. Tallinn City Tourist Office & Convention Bureau's partner for Web updates is Wiseman Interactive. Tallinn's tourism web was extremely popular in the first half of the 2010. Within the first six months the website had 463 000 visits, which is an increase of 11 per cent compared to same period last year. The most searched for information was about events, sights, entertainment and accommodation possibilities.

Tallinn leads the way in good figures for first half of 2010.
Tallinn's accommodation establishments have shown strong growth figures for the first half of 2010 compared to the rest of Estonia.
The city's accommodation establishments received 15 per cent more tourists compared to the same period in 2009. There was good news from the rest of the country as national figures increased by 10 per cent year on year.
Lower prices in accommodation establishments, agressive marketing of events and a general regional improvement in the tourist market, all contributed to the year on year recovery in tourism. During the first six months of 2010 the number of bed nights and revenues from sales of accommodation services both increased compared to the same period the previous year.
During the first half 2010, a total of 554 700 tourists stayed in Tallinn's accommodation establishments. Eighty eight per cent of accommodated visitors were foreign tourists. Compared with same period last year the number of foreign tourists (+19%) as well as domestic tourists (+7%) increased. During the first six months more tourists stayed in accommodation establishments of Tallinn than the same period in previous years (i.e. record overnight stays at hotels, hostels and other accommodation establishments).
Bed nights spent by tourists also increased, a total of 989 000 bed nights (+20%) in Tallinn’s accommodation establishments during the period from January to June. While bed nights by foreign tourists rose by 21 per cent (totalling 885 400 bed nights), bed nights by Estonian residents were up only by 6 per cent (total 5 800 bed nights).
Most tourists arrived from Finland (256 800), Russia (48 200) and Sweden (25 000). Among Tallinn's primary target markets the biggest growth of accommodated tourists was from Finland (+16% or +35 500 tourists) and Russia (+47% or +15 500 tourists). Tallinn received more tourists from Germany (+17%), Latvia (+10%) and Great Britain (+6%). There were drops in trips from Norway (-11%) and Sweden (-1%).
The average length of stay for tourists was 1.78 nights, which is an increasing trend. Compared with the same period in 2009, this figure increased among foreigners (average 1.82 nights), but decreased among domestic visitors (average 1.54 nights). Seventy three per cent of accommodated tourists arrived for holidays, 26 per cent were on a business trip (3% attending conferences) and the rest (1%) had some other reason for visiting Tallinn.
In the first half of 2010, the revenue of Tallinn's accommodation establishments from sales of accommodation services amounted to 480 million kroons (+6%).
Tallinn Airport received a total of 634 800 passengers during the first six months of 2010, which was 4 per cent less than the same period the previous year. The number of passengers passing through Tallinn Old Harbour totalled 3 556 000, an increase of 9 per cent compared to the same period in 2009.
