Tallinn’s cruise season started on May 3 and is due to last until September 27.
Three hundred and six cruise ships are expected this year carrying more than 400 000 passengers in total. Tallinn will welcome and host up to six cruise ships in one day.
Baltic Sea cruise traveller’s numbers are constantly rising. In 2008 the growth was 25% and this year the growth is expected to be up to 4%.
The biggest and most successful cruise port in the Baltic Sea is Copenhagen with 300 cruise ships and 560 000 passengers last year, followed by St. Petersburg (318 ships/ close to 400 000 passengers) and Tallinn (298 ships/ close to 400 000 passengers).
According to the Tallinn foreign visitors’ survey, most cruise passengers were willing to recommend Tallinn as a destination to their friends and close to 40% are likely to visit Tallinn again in the next five years.
The survey also showed that cruise passengers are getting more and more satisfied with Tallinn as the average rating rose up to 8,8 in the 10 point system. Passengers are most pleased with Tallinn’s sights, but not so impressed with the prices. An average cruise passenger spends 563 kroons.
