Tallinn taken over by runners this Sunday08.09.2011
This Sunday, the Baltic's largest ever sporting event the SEB Tallinn Marathon takes to the streets of Tallinn. September 11 is therefore a car free day in the central city of Tallinn with many roads closed and public transport diverted. Traffic changes occur on Sunday between 7am and 4pm.
More than 15 000 people are expected to participate in the all day sporting event with distances for: marathon runners (42.2 km), half marathon runners (21.1 km), joggers and walkers (10 km).
The children’s program with distances for the small runners take place on Saturday, September 10, on the Freedom Square along with the opening ceremony of the SEB Tallinn Marathon.
Sightseeing tours have some changes with Tallinn's Official Sightseeing tour, Kadriorg palace and park excursion (both organised by Reisiekspert) departing the usual times, but in front of Radisson Blu Hotel (instead of Sokos Hotel Viru). Guides are waiting for tourist in front of the Sokos Hotel Viru to take them to the starting point of the tours.
Hop-on Hop-off City Tour is cancelled for the day.
City Bike tours take place as usually and audio guides are for rent at the Tourist Information Centres as usually during opening hours.
