Registration of accommodation establishments

The Tourism Act, which came into force on 1 November 2005, provides new procedures for accomodation establishments wanting to obtain operating licences. The requirements have been established by the Minister for Economic Affairs and Communication.

From 1 November 2005 accommodation establishments in Tallinn, applying to register with the Register of Economic Activities, must approach their local District Administration.

Tallinn’s registered accommodation establishments as of 15.12.2011

As of 15.12.2011 there were 358 registered accommodation establishments in Tallinn (7577 rooms / 15377 beds), including 58 hotels (6513 rooms / 12802 beds), 10 guesthouses (128 rooms / 256 beds), 13 hostels (437 rooms / 1007 beds), 260 guest apartments (445 rooms / 1152 beds), 12 B&B (30 rooms / 66 beds), and 5 camping sites (3 houses / 24 rooms / 94 beds / 70 caravan places).

As of 31.12.2010 there were 363 registered accommodation establishments in Tallinn (7607 rooms / 15378 beds), including 58 hotels (6533 rooms / 12787 beds), 14 guesthouses (179 rooms / 367 beds), 15 hostels (451 rooms / 1071 beds), 254 guest apartments (383 rooms / 967 beds), 18 B&B (39 rooms / 97 beds), and 4 camping sites (2 houses / 22 rooms / 89 beds / 70 caravan places).

As of 31.12.2009 there were 342 registered accommodation establishments in Tallinn (7540 rooms / 15250 beds), including 57 hotels (6495 rooms / 12699 beds), 14 guesthouses (179 rooms / 367 beds), 14 hostels (439 rooms / 1047 beds), 234 guest apartments (355 rooms / 878 beds), 18 B&B (39 rooms / 97 beds), and 5 camping sites (3 houses / 33 rooms / 162 beds / 70 caravan places).
