Recommended translations for Tallinn’s tourist sites
In the past, the translations of Tallinn’s tourist sites have not been uniform, and this has confused tourists and caused controversy among tourism professionals. The Tallinn City Tourist Office has been aware of this problem and has therefore compiled a list with recommended translations for all the city’s major tourist sites. This list includes names in English, German, Russian, Finnish and Swedish for churches, various historical buildings and museums. This list has been developed with the help of site administrators, translators, and editors, as well as experienced guides and the staff of the city archives. It represents the Tallinn City Tourist Office’s position on the given issue, and we would appreciate the use of these translations in all publications describing Tallinn’s tourist attractions.
